Grading Policy 2021 - 2022

English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Spanish:

  •  60%- Assessments (including but not limited to: tests, performance tasks, lab reports, simulations, Socratic seminars, writing pieces, etc.)
  • 30%- Classwork (task completion, preparedness, punctuality, participation, etc.)
  • 10%- Homework (assigned on Monday and due on Friday-except Math)

Minor Tracks including: Dance, Musical Theatre, Band, Lego Robotics, STEM, Coding, Business Computers, Science, Yoga, Leadership, Library Skills, Art, Musical Enterprise:

  • 80%- Participation/Classwork
  • 20%- Assessment

Physical Education:

  • 60%- Participation
  • 40%- Classwork/Preparedness (students must wear their gym uniform to school on gym days).

Academic and Leadership Societies:

Arista- Arista is the National Junior Honor Society. All students are eligible to be inducted into Arista if they submit an application that meets the following criteria (past induction does not grant you automatic acceptance every year. All students must apply every year.) More information will be sent home in January.

 

The criteria is as follows:

  • A minimum of a 90% average in every subject or P (if applicable) in the 1st and 2nd marking period.
  • Excellent or Satisfactory citizenship in every class.
  • Application submission including a 250 word essay describing how they embody the school’s community commitment to be #BulldogSTRONG.

 

Laurie Leadership Society- The Laurie Leadership Society is a prestigious fellowship unique to our school. This society recognizes our students for their exemplary leadership qualities, profound dedication, and service to their community. All students in grades 6, 7 and 8 are eligible to apply. Start keeping track of the service you provide inside and outside of school if you are interested in becoming a member of our leadership society. The Application process will be through a Google form. Some examples of acceptable community service efforts include: acts of kindness, participation in school clubs, teams, tutoring, participation in school spirit days, helping at home, volunteering in the community. Students will be expected to upload evidence of their participation in the activity. Save any artifacts that represent your participation. More information will be communicated in January.
