THE APPLICATION PROCESS

A multi step review and evaluation

Apply through the NYC MySchools Portal for specialized programs.

Your child's IEP team submits the application. The central DOE Autism team reviews documents to determine potential candidacy.

If considered a potential candidate, the DOE's ASD team will review records, conduct assessments, and observe your child in their current setting.

The DOE makes a determination and, if eligible, places your child in an available Nest program in your zoned or neighborhood school district.

Your child may be eligible if they:

Have an Autism classification on their IEP.
Perform at or above grade level and can access the general education curriculum.
Have average to above-average intelligence.
Can work both independently and in small groups with minimal adult support.
