I.S. 72's Gallery

Monument Dedication

November 14, 2019  was a very special day for our school, as we dedicated a monument to our namesake, Police Officer Rocco Laurie, and former School Safety Agent, Detective Rafael Ramos. Two of our students, sisters Sarah and Sophie Shapiro's artwork can be seen on this beautiful monument that now stands proudly outside the main entry of our school. Thank you to the students, staff, community members, and NYPD involved in the ceremony. I hope you always look upon this monument with pride, knowing that we made a little piece of history today and contributed to the legacy of our amazing school.

District 31 Memorial Video

Dear Rocco Laurie Families,

As a district, we would like to acknowledge and remember those who lost their lives directly or indirectly related to the COVID pandemic. Almost one year ago, our lives were abruptly interrupted and changed in multifaceted ways.

In remembrance of those who are no longer with us in D 31, our district will be participating in a collective moment of silence at 9:30am. We are posting a District 31 video message to our school's website following the moment of silence today.

Sincerely,

Jessica Jackson-Principal
